10 Electrical Tips for Christmastime
Christmastime is finally here! A lot of Christmas decor requires electricity or batteries, so we’ve compiled a list of electrical tips for Christmas for you and your resident Clark Griswold.
Untangle all those string lights and plug them in. Look for any burnt bulbs, broken bulbs, or frayed wires. Unplug and replace any of these problems before moving on.
Whether it’s a step ladder or an extension ladder, use safety precautions. Pay attention to the warning labels on your ladder and have a buddy hold it steady if you’re high up!
In the south, we can have snow, rain, hail, or tornadoes all in a day. Double check before you start your outside decorating project.
Too many cords in one source of electricity can pose a fire hazard, even during cold days.
If you’re decorating with an artificial tree, make sure the label reads “fire resistant”. If you’re putting up a real tree, make sure it’s fresh and never dries out. Place any tree you put up at least three feet away from any heat source.
Turn off those electrical decorations while you’re sleeping. Utilize timers for nighttime — your wallet and your neighbors will thank you!
